Lets start with this formation

This is called a logarithmic spiral or Fibonacci spiral. The curve crosses the X-axis at the Fibonacci numbers. Fibonacci, the 11th century mathematician who introduced a fascinating study of proportional relationships. (He's covered in great detail in my book)

The spiral crosses at 1 2 5 13 etc on the positive axis, and 0 1 3 8 etc on the negative axis. The oscillatory part crosses at 0 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 etc on the positive axis. The curve is strangely reminiscent of the shells of Nautilus and snails. This is not surprising, as the curve tends to a logarithmic spiral as it expands.

There are many things in our world (and out for that matter) that take on these specific proportional relationships. A universal proportion perhaps? An underlying "order" to our very existence? Ok, I won't go to over board but after years of study and analysis the "order" is unmistakable. It is all around us and is in fact a part of us as individuals and as mass societies.

The idea that there is some kind of ?ivine?usage of these ratios is very apparent in the view of distant galaxies. PHI is also referred to as the golden mean or the divine proportion.

The very construction of the cosmos as well as the unmistakable formation of a hurricane shows logarithmic spiral patterns.

This leads me to trading. My reason for using Fibonacci ratios and considering Fibonacci ratios significant is because of the underlying fact that humans behave in patterns. There is no better place to see mass decision-making than in the financial markets. As individuals come together to determine what is a good value, one may consider a particular stock a bad investment right at the same time that another may consider it to be a great investment. Both have done different research and may be using different techniques of valuation to come up with their decisions. These individual decisions do not change the fact that the masses make similar decisions at the same time. So much so that patterns are created.
